Design Build Construction firm and Fabrication Shop, with headquarters in Salt Lake City, is searching for an Assistant Controller.
Applicant must be a strong, self-starting, organized, dedicated, flexible, energetic individual with a high level of integrity. Qualified candidate must be willing to roll up their sleeves and dive into any and all tasks necessary in completing their duties, including menial tasks. The company is looking for that ‘go-to’ person that enjoys learning and accomplishing tasks in a fast paced team environment. The ideal candidate for this position will have in-depth knowledge of accounting practices in a construction environment. Strong work ethic, communication skills, and attention to detail are a must. Areas of Responsibility:
- Supervise/Perform Day to Day tasks including - Accounts Receivable, Customer Billings, Progress Billings, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Job Costing
- Month End Close, General Ledger Maintenance, Monthly Journal Entries, Financial Statement preparation.
- Manage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and reporting
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership to identify their needs and seek full range of business solutions.
- Supervise accounting staff in closing processes as well as training and development
- Assist the CFO in producing accurate and timely monthly financial statements
- Preform month end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation
- Assist with various types of Dashboard reports – including forecast, budget, cash flow, profitability reporting, business unit reporting, contribution margin, labor efficiency/utilization rates job costing, burden rates, etc.
- Train staff on internal control procedures as requested by CFO
- Assist with Human Resources and related tasks
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Prepare for financial audits from various audiences including bonding, banking, insurance, and governmental.
- Help manage company 401k.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of accounting experience in either a Public Accounting Audit capacity or private industry Senior Accountant function
- Construction company experience preferred
- Must have strong attention to detail with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage all of the above areas of responsibility
- AccuBuild Construction Accounting Software experience preferred
- Experience with Percentage of Completion Revenue Recognition and Job Cost Reporting and Analysis
- Advanced knowledge of Quick Books
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- CPA a Plus
