Payroll Accountant, $55k-$75k.

This person will assist in various activities in the accounting department of the company with specific responsibilities for payroll. The payroll responsibilities will include tasks such as entering payroll information and managing detail through the company’s payroll service provider, calculating wages and managing all tasks associated with the semi-monthly payroll processing. This individual will be experienced in entering data with a high attention to detail and will have strong data and math skills to make the necessary calculations.

Collect, compile and update payroll records by recording changes including insurance coverage, loan payments, salary increases, etc.  Oversee and ensure payroll precision – Limit discrepancies by analyzing information and ensuring accuracy. Reconcile employee deductions; manage and calculate taxes and deduction. Process new employees, terminations, transfers and promotions.  Develop, manage and maintain comprehensive payroll records. Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll regulations and established procedures.

Complete requests for pay-related documents including statements and verifications.  Complete other projects, tasks and responsibilities as assigned. Support and work in other areas within the accounting department in preparing reconciliations and accounting projects.  Must know A/P, A/R, G/L and Payroll and be able to develop and rebuild process should everything go do.  Multi-state and International payroll a big plus.

Requirements: 3+ years of experience in payroll processing with a strong understanding of general accounting principles. Experience with third party payroll processors for large employer payrolls. Experience in data collection, entry and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality. Solid knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and regulations related to payroll. Demonstrates capability to collaborate and execute tasks. Self-starter, highly motivated, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment.

Currently using VIBE and going to ADP in Jan 2019.  400employes/SLC; 800 company-wide. All US. Also must be sensitive to Costa Rica and the UK business but not included in payroll.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is highly preferred. Excellent communication (both written and verbal)

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience handling all aspects of payroll for a multi-state operation
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Ceridian Dayforce HCM
  • Previous experience with a computer conversion strongly preferred
  • Experience with payroll systems such as Ceridian, Dayforce, Workday or ADP required

Duties include:

  • Calculate payroll, benefits, for 1400 employees semi-monthly
  • Deduct and track insurance, garnishments and other withholdings
  • Responsible for maintaining and suggesting improvements for code tables and process workflows in Ceridian
  • Work to resolve inquiries from employees, questions related to payroll
  • Prepare standard monthly payroll reports
  • Assist with general accounting duties as needed

AgReserves, Inc. (ARI) is a multi-national, multi-corporate company that operates investment farms and ranches throughout the world. ARI currently has an opening for an Assistant Payroll Manager at the headquarters location in Salt Lake City, Utah.

 

Position Description:

The Assistant Payroll Manager assists the Payroll Manager in ensuring the timely and accurate processing of payroll for all US and Canadian operations. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the Payroll Manager in carrying out the function of payroll for the United States, Canada, and Expatriates, including the following:
    • Ensure the timely, accurate processing of scheduled and off-cycle payrolls o Identify and reduce risks associated with payroll.
    • Identify areas for process improvement and recommend innovative technological solutions to payroll challenges
    • Train payroll personnel, including corporate and local paymasters and payroll clerks, in payroll matters
    • Prepare payroll related journal entries and adjustments
    • Work with treasury on payroll-related banking issues, general accounting on check reconciliation and journal entries, and IT on payroll taxes
    • Assist in testing software patches and updates
    • Assist in monitoring and managing the data interfaced from the Human Capital system to the Payroll system.
    • Provide support in working with benefits providers o Review payment requests for benefits providers o Review tax filings and payments o Prepare leave benefit adjustments
    • As requested, provide accurate information and reports to management and auditors
    • Under the direction of the Payroll Manager, lead departmental audit function and additional projects as assigned

 

Skills and Other Qualifications Required:

  • B.S. in Accounting/Finance/ or other related field
  • 5 years Payroll Experience
  • CPP required
  • Conversational Spanish preferred
  • Understanding of Federal and State PR tax issues and systems for United States and Canada
  • Software programs- Infor Global HR, Lawson Payroll, Master Tax, Time Clock Plus, and BSI Tax Factory
  • Skills and Knowledge in Training, Documentation, and Process improvement Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
